Timothy Lindsey
Director, Asian Law Centre, University of Melbourne, Australia

 

Associate Professor Timothy Lindsey joined the Asian Law Centre in 1990 and was appointed to the Law School in 1994. He has been Director since 2000. A graduate of the University of Melbourne Law School, Tim completed his doctoral thesis in Indonesian studies. He teaches Indonesian Law, Malaysian Law and Islamic & Traditional Customary Law. His research interests are in the areas of commercial law, insolvency law, constitutional law, Islamic law and law reform in developing economies. He researches and teaches in Bahasa Indonesia. He is a member of the Board of the Australia-Indonesia Institute and a practicing member of the Victorian Bar. His publications include Indonesia: Law & Society; Indonesia: Bankruptcy, Law Reform and the Commercial Court; Corruption in Asia: Rethinking the Governance Paradigm; and Indonesia After Soeharto: Prospects for Reform.
